It's like my brain barfed some random crap all over this post

Right now, I am supposed to be finding quotes from Jane Eyre. The problem is that I DON'T LIKE IT. There, I said it.

I mean, would it KILL C-Bron to be at all funny? My homegirl Jane Austen is totally hilarious. These days, I just sit there in class and think of this (click to enlarge):

(by Kate Beaton at Hark, a Vagrant)

I really should continue with my homework, even though what should REALLY happen is that we get Monday off from school because our BYU Cougars are AMAZING and kicked the crap out of the Aztecs this afternoon! I mean, how am I supposed to focus on anything after such a display of raw, God-given talent?

Instead, I have surrendered to the temptation of weird Youtube videos, like this:

*EDIT: Okay, Mr. Rochester is kind of sometimes a little bit hot.

*EDIT #2: Just because I'm not loving the book doesn't mean that I am not looking forward to the new movie adaptation coming out soon.

My Official Oscar 2011 Predictions

BEST PICTURE: King's Speech
BEST ACTOR: Colin Firth (King's Speech)
BEST ACTRESS: Annette Bening (The Kids are Alright)
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Christian Bale (The Fighter)
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit)
BEST DIRECTOR: David Fincher (Social Network)

Yes, these are my predictions. I am such a sell out because I'm not even voting for who I want to win because that always ends in me looking misinformed and stupid, so I am just guessing who Entertainment Weekly tells me to guess. (Or at least who I think I remember they told me to guess...I'm too lazy to get off of my bed and get the magazine off of my desk. I am suffering from post-midterm soul-suckage, okay?)

Except for Hailee Steinfeld. I just don't have strong feelings about any other Supporting Actress nominees, and she is just so darn precious. (And by "precious," I mean "bad-A." Plus isn't it awesome how she's really cute in real life and very...regular-looking in True Grit?)

Oh, and except for King's Speech, which I would be happy to see clean up on Sunday. Really all I don't want is for Social Network to sweep the Awards.

Oh yeah, I forgot to predict how the hosts will do on Sunday...I predict that James Franco will look great in a tux and that Anne Hathaway will have like one funny joke.

And I predict that Robert Downey Jr. will look hot.

Guess who's back...back again...Randy's back...tell a friend

1. "Bizarre Love Triangle" by New Order. It always makes me feel like a bad-a. A bad-a in the '80s.

2. "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin. Whenever this comes on my ipod, I secretly hope that a stranger stops me, demands to see my ipod, and is really impressed with me. If this ever happens, I will probably NOT be listening to any cool classic rock hits; the odds are that I'll be listening to something more along the lines of Nick Lachey's solo album. Such is my life.

3."Your Love" by the Outfield. This deserves a spot on every single list that begins with the words, "Best Songs." Period. It's perfect.

4."Here Comes the Hotstepper" by Ini Kamoze. This song also made me feel like a bad-a until I remembered that the fairies dance to it in Fern Gully.

5."Love Story" by Taylor Swift. I have attitude about Taylor Swift for no reason. Seriously bad attitude. I hate on her hair, even though it's thick and curly and blonde and Disney-looking, and on her songs, even though they're about girls who just want to jump on their beds in baggy t-shirts and find love, to which I can totally relate. Still--I have attitude. (Not unlike my bad, irrational attitude about The Blindside, which I still haven't seen.)

My point is that "Love Story" came up on my ipod's shuffle last week while I was walking to class, and I had goosebumps, okay?? I'm such a hypocrite.

6. "I Feel it All" by Feist. This makes me feel like it is a bright, sunny, crisp fall day. Even in stupid idiot February.

7. "Get Low" by Lil Jon and some other creepy dudes. I just really like this song. A LOT.

So anyways, last week I watched the BEST episode of "American Idol": Group Night of Hollywood Week. I am OBSESSED with this episode every season. For those of us who crave a little reality TV drama, Group Night always comes through 100%. Every single year promises "Idol" hopefuls crying, sucking at singing, and trying to perform choreography on .5 hours of sleep. The episode also rocks because there are usually groups who are legitimately awesome.

This season had all of this and more: a moment which, embarrassingly enough, almost made me cry:

So cute. I mean, he's not going to win or anything, but isn't it nice to know that there are good people in the world?! (And I'm not talking about that a-hole with the white glasses. You are TWENTY-SIX.)

Oh Tyra

All I keep hearing about is Anthropologie's new bridal line, BHLDN or whatever...and yep those dresses are BEAUTIFUL.

Most of the models are beautiful, too. This picture, for example, is really pretty.

This poor girl, however, obviously went to the Urban Outfitters modeling school. I mean, seriously?
And the dress is really pretty, but I hardly notice because the model is too busy breathing through her mouth and doing the Safety Dance. What would Tyra say?! Hopefully not something like this:

Anyways, LOOK AT THESE I NEED THEM...but I unfortunately don't have the kind of Simoleons one needs to afford such beauties:

Seriously though, I miss her

This is a big deal: I started a paper before 9:00 at night today. Like way before 9. I mean, it probably doesn't count because it's a paper about Carl Jung and Titanic, so it's all touchy-feely and kind of creative, but I mean it's still for a class. And I started it BEFORE 9:00.

Do you know why? It's because I'M AN ADULT*

Anyways, I just want to let Demi Lovato know that I haven't forgotten about her. And that her buck teeth are 1 million times cuter than Miley's.

*even though I might be surrounded by peanut butter M&Ms and Tabasco Cheez Its right now

I can only tolerate the cheesiest R&B

Our generation needs Daria

The only bad thing about "Daria" is that I wasn't old enough to appreciate it while it was actually on the air. The following scene is as applicable to pop culture now as it was in the '90s. The quality is pretty crappy because I had to record it on my Coolpix (which I got for Christmas back in 2005) while watching the DVD on my laptop...

But Daria's words still ring true! I just have to decide whether her wisdom applies more to hipsters or to Lady Gaga.

Pride and Prejudice and Hotties

We're reading Pride and Prejudice in my Lit and Film class right now, so I "borrowed" my mom's old copy (published in 1981). I am so glad that I did. Look at how sexy the cover art is!

I love it. And Elizabeth is loving it even more! I mean, what song are they dancing to to make Netherfield so unbelievably sexy? Maybe this one:

It totally reminds me of this comic.

Sometimes I wonder why people read this blog.

Grumpy mood tonight
Might go to bed now--it's 9
Not sure why I'm ticked.

Possible reasons
Cold toes, stupid internet,
Weird-feeling stomach.

Inadequate, yes?
I meant that my excuses
are inadequate,

but the guidelines of
Haiku(s) are unflinchingly
Strict--5 syllables.

Thus coherency
Generally gets lost when
My thoughts get cut short.

Anyways, I watched
"Glee," and for the first time I
Liked Santana some.

Oh, that I could have
The type of life in which lots
Of cool things happen.

Instead, here I sit
Writing haiku(s) for Hulu
This is the last one.

(for today)
