My new favorite picture of myself

Lookee what I found! A spontaneous stank face from yours truly, study abroad-style:

Anyways, I have a paper to write.

At least there's a method to my madness

Eventually I always always ALWAYS jump on the bandwagon--and it doesn't matter what's being featured on the bandwagon. I have a process.
  1. I hear of the thing gaining popularity.
  2. I see an explosion of love declarations to the thing on the internet.
  3. I refuse to let the thing into my life. I also (discreetly) roll my eyes when I hear about the thing.
  4. I inadvertently hear/see/read the thing.
  5. I become OBSESSED with the thing but am too embarrassed to back down from my original position of Hater.
  6. I secretly listen/watch/read the thing all day long and can never talk to anyone about how much I love it until at least a year has passed, and everyone will have forgotten that I had been a Hater.
Why do I do this to myself?! From now on, I am just going to FESS UP. For example, I love Mumford & Sons. Their Pandora station is basically the perfect homework soundtrack. They are awesome, and it took me forever to even try them out because I saw that everyone was liking them and scoffed because I have some extremely pretentious tendencies.

Other things I now love after avoiding them for too long because I was trying to "prove a point":
  • "Modern Family"
  • "Grey's Anatomy"
  • Justin Bieber
  • "The Bachelor"
And I still haven't seen The Blindside. Maybe it's about time for step #6.

Bad medicine is what I need

This Tuesday Tabby and I had the great honor of being under the same roof as Bon Jovi during their concert in Salt was AMAZING. Jon looked and sounded grrrreat--like as if he were 15 years younger. He was jumping around and dancing all crazy, going non-stop for the entire 2 1/2 hours that they was quite titillating professional. Richie Sambora was the bomb on all of his was just a great concert all around.

Tabby and me, just WAITING

Seriously. Is that the face of a 49-year-old? Apparently.

Is that the chestal region of a 49-year-old? APPARENTLY.

Seriously this concert was so great. They played all the hits--ALL of them! Plus their newer ones, which, while I don't know all of the words, still sounded SWEET.

In other news, I am 100% crushing on Scott Foley, thanks to Carly introducing me to her "Felicity" DVDs.

I mean, come ON.

It isn't too hard to see we're in Heaven

Tonight a puppy that looked exactly like this jumped all over me. It was like I had been allowed to take a sneak peek at Heaven, right there in the Sammy's parking lot.

I know I love him

In other news, this is my 200th post...whoda thunk I'd be able to keep this crap up since 2008? If you want to read my first-ever post, click here. It's very...scattered, but there are a ton of sweet photos.

Oh, and this song goes out to that little puppy.

Something I was thinking about in Physical Science lab today

There are two types of TV show titles: obvious and clever.

  • Boy Meets World
  • Arrested Development
  • Scrubs
  • Grey's Anatomy
  • Three's Company
  • Married with Children
  • Bewitched
  • It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

  • Daria
  • The Cosby Show**
  • Seinfeld
  • Bones (right? I'm not really familiar with this show)
  • House
  • Everybody Loves Raymond
  • Old/New Something of Christine***
  • Smart Guy (not even a name--just a description)
  • Archer****
  • The Andy Griffith Show**
  • The Dick Van Dyke Show**
  • The Mary Tyler Moore Show**
  • Hangin with Mr. Cooper
  • Arthur
  • The Famous Jett Jackson
  • Wishbone

*I guess "Grey's Anatomy" should be on this list, but it's a pun! Puns are clever. And hilarious.

**technically not a character's name, but you know what I mean

****WHICH I have never seen...the commercials always just embarrass me, and they always come on when at least one parent or younger sibling is watching TV with me.

In the midnight hour

Writing a paper about Pride and Prejudice with Van Halen's "Panama" blasting in the background is pretty epic.

The fact that right now, as I type, I am breathing through both nostrils is also pretty epic.

This conversation, which occurred during the BYU-SDSU game at the end of February, is also pretty epic:

Jordyn: Jimmer is a weird name.

Carly: Jimmer is destroying San Antonio.

Jordyn: Jimmer could play linebacker for the Raiders.

(background knowledge)

Carly and I are so freaking funny, you don't even know.

The battle continues

  1. People around me are talking about grown-up things, like wedding rings and job interviews. I feel like this makes me an adult by association
  2. Am drinking tons of water due to being sick
  3. Have been thinking about work a lot
  4. My car radio pre-sets only include one pop station
  5. And one of those pre-sets is KOSI
  6. Last week I had one of those dreams where you dream that you've gotten out of bed to go to the bathroom and wake up while dream-you is sitting on the toilet...and I DIDN'T wet the bed! I woke up in time.

  1. Loving Bieber on Pandora, as usual
  2. Ate a crapload of pie for Pi Day yesterday
  3. Am doing internet instead of writing my paper due tomorrow
  4. Ate Reese's Pieces for breakfast

VERDICT: I am an adult today!

Sick Haiku

Hiding in my room
Only capable of this:
Breathing through my mouth.

Living off of soup
Brought by friends who always can
Tell just what I need!

DayQuil does the trick
Should've bought more than I did
But I will survive.

Watched the movie The
Jane Austen Book Club on You-
tube--it wasn't bad

Especially when
I recall the warm, tender
Touch of Hugh Dancy.

I miss my old phone
Why did you have to leave me?
Why'd you rip in half?

Well, I must end here
Hopefully my cold will not
Linger much longer.

Seriously--look at my poor phone:

These pictures were taken with the camera on my NEW phone. I do not know why it split the second picture into two weird parts, and I do not know why the only ringtones it has are called things like "Funky Marionettes," "Garden Clock," and "Shadow of Your Smile."

Sara Bareilles is a rad chick

It is too late to be awake! But here's a cool song with a cool music video featuring a lot of my cool friends:

For Kylie

  1. The Sting
  2. The Sandlot
  3. Star Wars original trilogy
  4. O Brother Where Art Thou
  5. Clueless
  6. Remember the Titans
  7. Inglourious Basterds
  8. What's Up Doc
  9. Overboard
  10. Sherlock Holmes

Honorable Mention: The Royal Tenenbaums, A Knight's Tale, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, That Thing You Do, Mr. and Mrs. Smith

Don't anyone dare judge me for any of my choices. These are movies I could watch twice in a row--something I know from experience.

Oh, and YES I am counting the original Star Wars trilogy as one movie. I can't bring myself to rank them.

My Official Oscar 2011 Recap (and a semi-formal apology to Charlotte Brontë)

Okay, so I batted a .700 with my Oscars predictions (when I include my category-less guesses about hotness and Anne Hathaway's horrible hosting abilities)! Not too shabby.

In general, I really enjoyed this year's Oscars! They were paced really well, I was pleased with most of the winners, and almost all of the winners' acceptance speeches were extremely classy and touching.

...with one exception, and whatever--at least it was kind of entertaining.

Fashion-wise, I was underwhelmed...nothing mind-blowingly beautiful, nothing face-meltingly ugly. I'm not embarrassed to admit that my favorite look of the evening belonged to none other than Celine Dion:

I thought her dress during her In Memoriam performance was really pretty! And her hair looked perfect! Chapeau, Celine.

Obviously the highlight of the show was the dream team:

OBVIOUSLY. They were h-o-t HOT and hilarious...which is why they should host the 2012 Oscars. Mia Thermopolis Anne Hathaway need not reapply for the job.

In other news, I have had a change of heart regarding Jane Eyre. It turns out that Jane Eyre is actually a pretty cool chick...I mean, she could easily get sucked into Rochester's crazy crap life and thus give in to her lusty impulses, but she sticks to her guns! She knows that he's the first person to show her any respect or love, but she has too much respect for herself to descend to his current level. Jane Eyre is kind of a bad-A!

Plus Rochester is admittedly hotter than I had initially thought. He's all sarcastic but actually it. I've also started imagining Michael Fassbender saying all of his lines, and that is making the book extremely enjoyable:
