Kevin, you're such a disease

How did they get the bags to rip at the same time??

Also, I forgot how much more fun it is to watch Home Alone now. As a bedwetter, the first 15 minutes or so were pretty mortifying in my youth.

My Christmas Playlist Essentials

I have been feeling extremely Christmas-y this week (besides this morning, during which I listened exclusively to Taylor Swift after enduring the SmithsTix online bloodbath to get pre-sale tickets...dang!!! So crazy. I came out victorious though!!), and thus I've achieved a near-perfect Christmas playlist. Here are my faves:

  • Vince Guaraldi Trio: "Christmastime is Here" (and the whole Charlie Brown Christmas CD, durrr)
  • Harry Connick Jr.: "What Child is This" (and every single one of his Christmas songs)
  • Hanson: "What Christmas Means to Me"
  • Relient K: "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"
  • NSYNC: "O Holy Night" (seriously bomb)
  • The Shins: "Wonderful Christmastime"
  • Punch Brothers: "O Come O Come Emmanuel"
  • The Civil Wars: "O Come O Come Emmanuel" (both versions are amaaazing)
  • Barenaked Ladies/Sarah McLachlan: "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen"
  • Mariah Carey: "All I Want for Christmas is You" OBVIOUSLY
  • Rockapella: "Silver Bells"
  • The Ronettes: "Sleigh Ride"
  • Wham: "Last Christmas"
  • Sufjan Stevens: "Once in Royal David's City"
  • Jim Brickman: "O Tannenbaum"
  • The Ventures: "Sleigh Ride"
  • Straight No Chaser: "12 Days of Christmas"
  • AgesandAges: "Need a Little Christmas"
  • Brian Setzer: "Nutcracker Suite" (and the entire Elf soundtrack)
Also, I'm suuuuuper excited about Christmas presents this year. I've miraculously had pretty great ideas for all of my family members, which is both a relief and soooo exciting! Big time adrenaline rushes this week while I was brainstorming. YAY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Hair Test 2012

So here's the thing: I am loco-crazy about my new iPod. I love it. One of my favorite things about it is the app Taaz (thank you to Carly, the beautiful genius). This virtual makeover app is really making me antsy to change my hair, which has been my natural color for approximately 1.5 years now...so basically it's time to mix it up.

Here's what I've drummed up:

(the last one is my current, natural color, obvs)

I'm leaning towards the first square. I've never tried ombre, and since I'm ready to explore a whole new frontier after being both Carrie Underwood-blonde and Vanessa Hudgens-brown. (Okay I had a brain fart and couldn't think of any other brunette celebrities!)

Oh and of course I had to test Taaz out on Erin, too. Here she is with Angelina Jolie hair:

My other obsession lately is The Vampire Diaries. I finally started watching it after eeeeveryone told me too...and guess what they were ALL RIGHT. It's amazing!! It has beautifulbeautifulbeautiful people, amazing cliffhangers (that get resolved instantly porque Netflix), bada*s vampire/etc. events, love...yeah I just can't get enough of it right now.

And I'm in love with Damon. He looks like Rob Lowe + Chace Crawford and has a Robert Downey Jr. voice. And he's got jokes.

(I don't know if this clip is that funny, but it made me laugh out loud when I watched it just barely. "Hero hairdo"? Hahaha.)

BURFDAY

Well this weekend was SO GREAT!
  1. Friday: The Killers concert was AWESOME. Tegan and Sara played some of my all-time favorite songs ("The Con," "Back in Your Head," "Walking with a Ghost") and awesome new ones, and then the Killers...holy crap. There were fireworks--both in my heart AND literally out in front of us. INDOOR FIREWORKS as well as lasers and fire bombs (?) and just so many emotions. Dang. So amazing.

(Oh and BRANDON FLOWERS IS SOOOOOOO HOT HOLY CRAP okay sorry but I couldn't hold it in any longer)
  2. Saturday: My mom, dad, and sister Tricia were in town for Erin's amazing Christmas choir concert! So naturally they all came to my birthday party, too. SO much fun. I love everyone.
  3. Sunday (the actual anniversary of my birth): Just a chill, chill Sunday playing with my brand spankin new iPod!! It's so beautiful, and its name is Riggins. For no real reason. My first iPod's name was Moondoggie, my second one's name was Tom Riddle, and now my third one is named Riggins. It could change; who knows. What I do know is that I am obsessed with this baby. I mean, today on my lunch break, I watched The Vampire Diaries. In my car. THIS IS THE FUTURE!!
So yes, I am excited to be 24. I am, however, sad that I am no longer represented by Blink-182's "What's My Age Again." Maybe nobody likes you when you're 23, but hopefully people worship the ground you walk on, and boys want to make out with you all the time when you're 24. Or something. I mean, what?

Oh, and because I always have to mention my birthday soul sister Britney when I talk about my birthday...here's my favorite all-time picture of her. (We saw this on some drugstore tabloid cover back in '07.)

I won't treat you like you're oh so typical

Concert tomorrow!! I'm so excited. Kylie and I each made amazing shirts at Gen-X today...somehow I never knew until now that they have neon screen shirt options. So this definitely happened:

Basically it's ... my most favorite thing in my life right now. Oh and um yes if you take a look at the left of the picture, you will see the mess that is my unpacked/disheveled Thanksgiving luggage...I'll pull it together pretty soon, I'm sure. ("It" being my life in general)

But yessss there are few things that fuel my adrenaline as much as a good concert does!

THINGS THAT TRIGGER MY ADRENALINE-NESS:
- amazing concerts
- roller coasters
- cute boys paying attention to me
- Robert Downey Jr. movies
- the moment right before I leave on a vacation
- when someone is unwrapping an awesome present I picked out for them

There are others I'm sure. But anyway yeah I'm extremely psyched to hear these songs tomorrow:

Plus word on the street* is that Brandon Flowers is still freakin hot, so okay.

Thanksgiving Recap

I wish I could go back in time and do last week all over again. We had so much fun just doing the usual vacation things: playing games, eating, watching movies/football/the Macy's parade/Psych, shopping, sister trip to Bead It...yeah it was so fun. I'm obsessed with my family.

Also we took our Christmas card picture! The one that made the final cut isn't any of these, so no spoilers here!

I wanted this one below to be the official Canady Family Christmas Card 2012 because I look skinny in it, but alas, I was outvoted.

WE ALWAYS HAVE FUN TOGETHER

Austin got sick of the paparazzi, but we three sisters wanted to keep going.

Not sure why this one didn't make the cut for this year's Christmas card

My parents yaaaaay :)

This is one of the best pictures ever taken #Tricia

Look at my cute brother and my cute dogs :)

This documentation of our senior pictures hangs in our dining room (Tricia, being a sophomore, does not yet have a senior picture). Yeesh I hated all of my senior pictures. But I saw current senior Austin's for the first time this trip, and I couldn't stop raving about it. MODEL STATUS

We also decorated the Christmas tree! Here's this little gem of an ornament from '97, which documents a major part of my life: correcting people trying to spell my name. Once a lady somehow assumed my name was spelled "Jordyn" instead of "Jordan," but it was really weird. I mean, I appreciated it, but come on--who would guess that on the first try?! What a psycho, amiright??

Some families have really beautiful Christmas trees that follow a specific theme and color scheme, and I love those. However, our tree is always a wonderful motley crew of completely random ornaments, both handmade by the preschool versions of ourselves and store-bought. And I LOVE IT

Every year we each pick out an ornament--typically one that represents that year for us. Wellll Target just so happens to carry a teensy Taylor Swift guitar ornament that plays "Sparks Fly," my all-time fave Taylor song. I had to get it. And come on 2012 was DEFINITELY the year of Taylor!

Remember when it was a normal thing to put tiny professionally-taken photographs onto key rings? Yeah I had forgotten until I found this on a random spare key. AND NOW IT'S MINE

Yeah I want to go back home immediately. At least Christmas is less than a month away!

Thanksgiving in Denver was THE BEST!!! It was almost too good; it was extremely hard to come back to Provo. I love hanging out with my family more than anything else. I'll post those pics soon.

I did see this video a few minutes ago, which made me happy. I've always been annoyed by Robert Pattinson, but I was totally, totally wrong to judge him. He's actually hilarious and completely aware of the  goofiness of the Twilight franchise (my favorite bit starts at about 1:43):

But I mean duh, I wouldn't expect anything less from a Triwizard Champion, obvs.

There's no place like Netflix for the holidays

I'm feeling extremely festive and Thanksgiving-y because of this little Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Thanksgiving_television_specials

I started with the Felicity season 1 Thanksgiving episode and am now scouring Netflix for as many as I can find. Best decision I ever made.

Two amazing lazy Saturdays in a row

RIGHT NOW I AM

Listening to this

and this

and this

and staring out the window at rain

and painting my nails

and my hair looks ridiculous

and only one eye has makeup on it

and I feel GREAT (even though my landlord cashed my rent check this morning, AAACK*), and Thanksgiving is next week, and I can't freakin wait!!

*Cathy. Have you seen this clip from ages ago?!?!?!?! I quote it so much I don't even remember it's a quote.

"Yeah you did."

My spirit animal is a 7th grade fangirl

Things I'm Thinking on the Laziest Saturday Ever

Okay I know everyone is communicating in one form or another about the snow in Provo...but seriously, it is crazy and kind of amazing. I was leaving my friends' apartment last night at 2 am, and walking back to my car was ridiculous. I felt like I was on another planet, like Hoth or Christmastown in Nightmare Before Christmas. Also, I completely ATE IT while exiting the apartment--like BOOM all of a sudden lying there slammed on my butt, so welcome to winter to me.

Also, I love Pinterest again because I needed yet another social media outlet.

Oh, and I couldn't be happier about the Selena-Biebster break-up. Run, girl. Run as fast and as far as you can. Here are some acceptable new boyfriends for a foxy, classy young celebrity like yourself:
  • Tom Daley: If you're gonna go younger, choose a hot, British, Olympic medalist.
  • (Almost) any of the guys from Pretty Little Liars: Feast your eyes, Selena:

    - Noel Kahn is probably A, but he's very hot.

    - Caleb is my personal favorite. Funniest, most interesting guy on the show by far.

    - Mr. Fitz...well he is yes so hot. Also Aria is somewhat of a Selena doppelganger, dontcha know. (Oh and I learned how to upload gifs)
    Photobucket
  • Josh Hutcherson: He is so hot, and if he has a girlfriend, this will hopefully help me end my inappropriate crush on him. Photobucket
Here are men/boys to stay away from:
  • Anyone from One Direction: this would just be more of the same. Aim higher!
  • John Mayer: Listen to your BFF Taylor's songs and just say no.
  • Russell Brand: Okay this will probably never happen, but I watched the Katy Perry movie, and Russell is the opposite of a class act. (PS: the Katy Perry movie was great and made me cry. I don't even consider myself a KP fan--except for "E.T." obviously)
  • Ryan Lochte: He's not ready for love.
  • Relapsing with JB: Please don't.
I'm just looking out for an old friend (one time--true story--I had a dream that Selena and I embarked on a shopping spree together, and she was really nice! So yeah I just want what's best for her.)

I should probably go interact with people in real life for the rest of the day.

Puerto Rico Update

PUERTO RICO CANADY INSANITY DREAM VACATION! The only thing I would've changed is that Erin would've dropped out of school and come with us. Oh and that the trip could've lasted for two months instead of six days.

We flew in this tiny 10-person plane to the island Vieques. The plane ride was CRAZY and AWESOME! So fun.

Take a gander at these BEAUTIFUL BEACHES!!

I have attractive siblings

Waiting for the plane back to the main island and having a BALL

Four Canadys looking great in El Yunque rain forest

Yeah I made everyone listen to Red in the rental car, whatev! BEST WEEK EVER

Another thing that happened today is my favorite entertainment writer, Darren Franich, answered my question on his vyou channel (something I don't really understand but whatever). Watch it here: http://vyou.com/user_158867/6871200/Okay-if-you-were-only-able-to-watch-5-movies-over-and-over-for-the-rest-of-your-life-which-ones-would-you-pick

Dedicated to Ruby Rebecca Rosenthal

This morning I woke up two minutes before my alarm went off, and I legitimately didn't know what day it was. And then I thought, "Whoa it's SATURDAY! Right? Better go back to sleep." But then I saw on my alarm that it was the 6th, so I looked at my calendar on the wall and found out that it was Tuesday.

NOT AN EXCELLENT MOMENT. Plus right then my alarm went off.

But later I saw this comment on one of our testosterone supplement* websites at work:

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE AND HOW TO GET THIS PROTOTYPE IV 33AB?! SURE COULD USE SOME;I AM 57 1/2 YRS OLD AND WOULD LIKE TO IMPROVE MY MENTAL AND OTHER CAPACITIES AS WELL.HOPE TO HEAR BACK FROM YOU VIA EMAIL. THANK YOU ROGER SMITH

And I don't know if this is actually funny, but I was laughing really, really hard when I read that. SURE COULD USE SOME

Oh and today I literally ate pixie stix for breakfast, so I'm just going to call today a Kid victory.

AND Puerto Rico was AMAZING!! Holy crap it was fun. I will put the pictures up soon!

*Yeah I know, right? How badly do you want to be me right now?

"I know a boat you can get on..."

GOING TO PUERTO RICO IN LIKE 36 HOURS!

Anyway, fingernails:

1. I saw this braid design on this website and thought it looked awesome, and guess what it's freaking EASY. The top layers of polish cover up any mistakes made due to a hand spasm or whatever.

Plus, this pink is my new fave, and it's just Revlon! I got it at Walgreen's for like $3. It's called "Flirt," and it has definitely lived up to its name (HA OMG FUNNY JOKE!!!).

(My hand says, "Call Dad")

2. My current nails--yesterday I was buying my usual top coat (which, btw, is Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat; try it and you'll never go back, I betcha), and they gave me a free nail art pen. I'm enjoying it.

Yes, both of these pictures were taken at work. Yes, I would rather be painting fingernails for a living than writing about diet pills and foolproof ways to boost your metabolism and trim your waistline.

BUT...PUERTO RICO!!! Here is the current extent of my knowledge on Puerto Rico:

Bernardo and Anita are so hot.

Haiku for Taylor

Car CD player
Broken for a few months, yeah--
Very annoying.

Red came out today
(Obviously you know that)
It was the last straw.

I paid sixty bucks
(Really it was quite a steal):
New CD player.

Now I am happy
Taylor serenading me
In car and at work.

But yeah seriously I bought a new CD player for my car mainly because I couldn't handle not being able to listen to Red while I was driving around.

I went to Target after work for the Deluxe version (22 songs! I mean, come on!), and the shelf was EMPTY, and I turned to the nearest clerk with desperation in my eyes, and before I could even say anything, he smiled and said, "Haha no! Here you go!" and handed me one. He was like, "I don't even have to ask what people are looking for anymore, haha!" Who doesn't love a jolly Target employee?

And then I bumped into a girl from my old ward who had the exact same look on her face as she asked me, "ARE THEY OUT?!?" And she was so relieved when she got her copy, too. #sharedhumanexperiences

Oh and here's how I ended up doing my nails for the occasion:

I couldn't just do plain red because red polish usually makes me look white white white and dry dry dry.

Dream wife

KID THINGS I'VE DONE
  • On my pug puppies calendar, October 22nd says, "new Taylor Swift CD" (I marked it back in September) and I'm planning a Red outfit for tomorrow.
  • October 23rd says, "PLL," and I've been planning my costume for our premiere party for a month.
  • The phrase "my pug puppies calendar" really speaks volumes
ADULT THINGS I'VE DONE
  • Possibly the most adult thing of all time: I bought a crock pot and actually used it.
  • I also bought a full set of cookware at Ikea yesterday.
  • I also baked cookies last week. All of these things are completely unprecedented; I'm not usually described as "domestic" or "homemaker material" or "the ideal wife". WELL NOT ANYMORE! Dream wife right here
I'm going to call this a victory for Adult Me because let's face it--crock pots count for double points!

Also, this week is probably going to the best week ever, not just because of Red and Pretty Little Liars: this Saturday, I'm going to Puerto Rico with my family!! Happy Fall Break TO ME!

Fall 2012 Music Obsessions

So while I'm at work, I listen to my iPod all. day. long. Here's what I've been listening to non-stop the last month or so.

Kimbra
Holy CRAP. The great great Holli Robinson dragged my beloved roommate Lauren and me to the Kimbra concert in Salt Lake last week, and I have yet to get over how amazing it was. Oh my gosh. Holli, I am forever in your debt for introducing me to her! (FYI: Kimbra sings the girl part in Gotye's "Somebody that I Used to Know"--but her own songs are waaaaay different than that.) Oh my gosh.

Listen to this--and you have to listen to the entire thing! Homegirl goes NUTS at the end and it is spectacular. I was literally speechless when she performed this one live. My eyeballs and earholes felt like they were going to fall off of my face!!

The Killers
Brandon Flowers and the gang are coming to Orem (unprecedented, I know) with Tegan and Sara (SO EXCITED--Tegan and Sara helped me through some major freshman year of college angst!!) next month, and so to prepare I've immersed myself in the Killers' songs for a few weeks now. I've always known the famous ones, you know, "Mr. Brightside" and the one from Guitar Hero but have never really listened to them a ton.

Well, that has certainly changed--I listen to the song "Battle Born" like five times a day now. Seriously--when things get crappy, I literally think the words "Boy you was battle born" to myself. Except I say "girl" instead of "boy" because I am, in fact, a girl. And I feel invincible and victorious.

Robyn
Over and over and over and over and over and over again

Taylor
Obviously. This one's my fave out of all the released singles.

Red by Taylor Swift on Grooveshark

Fleetwood Mac
Oh baby yes. Faves right now are "Never Going Back Again," "Secondhand News," "Rhiannon"...I dunno I just can't believe I took so long to be obsessed with Fleetwood Mac, ya know?

Kenny Loggins
I listen to "Footloose" over and over and over again every single Friday. I don't let myself listen to it at all before the weekend because it makes me too sad that it isn't the weekend.

That's just a taste. They're all so GOOD!

For the rest of my life

If I had to choose only three bands (or singers)/TV shows/movies/books to experience for the rest of my life, they would be:
  • Music (and their entire canon is fair game):
    • Billy Joel
    • Taylor Swift
    • Greg Laswell
  • TV shows:
    • Friday Night Lights
    • Parks and Recreation
    • Seinfeld
  • Movies:
    • Clueless
    • Sherlock Holmes 2 (not technically my 2nd all-time favorite movie or anything, but I can't not watch RDJ for the rest of my life, durrr)
    • When Harry Met Sally
  • Books
    • Harry Potter
    • ???
    • ???
Books were too hard to choose, so I didn't. I couldn't decide which types of books I'd want for the rest of my life--would I want funny? Serious? And I'M the Gamemaker here, so I just opted out of this decision. Also, the ones I was seriously considering for the 2 and 3 slots were ... how shall I say ... HUMILIATING.

I feel guilty for not including Ben Folds as one of my three music choices--I mean, we've been through a lot together. If a fourth choice were allowed, it would be him. Probably.

And Arrested Development would be in my top three TV shows...but there are only three seasons! I mean, this has to last me the rest of my LIFE. Plus I have them mostly memorized anyway, so I can just act them out.

Also, didja hear that Freaks and Geeks is on Netflix FINALLY?! Do yourself a favor and watch it.

Oh, what's that you're saying? My recommendation alone isn't enough to convince you?? WELL! Take a look at the cast, why don't you? Just one of the gems is that Squints from The Sandlot plays a bully.

Now watch this clip that I watched on Alison's facebook like a year ago that instigated this entire obsession:

All day errday

IN ORDER TO AVOID DOING SOMETHING IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW, I

- facebook stalk myself; am underwhelmed by what I find
- check out Leslie Mann's way-cool Emmy outfit from last night
- read reviews of movies I've already seen
- google "Beckham family"
- find an important video on youtube that I needed to show Alison:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nk61FhZcr1I
- basically fall off of my bed laughing at the Seinfeld episode "The Invitations". Everything in it is so funny. "Poor Lilly"
- start reading Sense and Sensibility for the first time; pride myself on reading my first non-YA book in possibly all of 2012
- listen to all of my Taylor Swift songs twice
- stare at stuff
- avoid the inevitable self-loathing that comes when I do crap like this
- remember that I'm on a negativity fast and that things aren't so bad but that I should just get the thing done
- promise myself that I can do the new Pottermore chapters only once I've done the thing
- make this list

The Future Musical Sensation that Will Sweep the Nation!

[the original shot of Taylor found here]

Over Labor Day, we (Marin, Kylie, Rachel, and myself) drove to Denver and had a totally boss time. It was seriously amazing. Except for the part where it only lasted three days rather than ten or something.

On the drive home, we came up with the Most Brilliant Idea of All Time: did you know that you can create the most perfect jukebox musical (a la Abba and Mamma Mia) using Taylor Swift songs to tell the Hunger Games story?

Prepare for us to blow your mind.

Oh yeah and possible spoilers for those of you who haven't read the books. I bet you'll be able to see and enjoy the musical without reading the books, though.

TAYLOR SWIFT/HUNGER GAMES JUKEBOX MUSICAL

  • "Mine": a leitmotif* for Peeta and Katniss. It will first play in the cave, then during hot 'n heavy times on the beach in Catching Fire, and then at the finale
    • Evidence: "Do you remember we were sitting there, by the water / You put your arm around me for the first time"
  • "Mean": Katniss to President Snow when he comes to her house in CF
    • Evidence: "You with your words like knives and swords and weapons that you use against me"
    • More: "Why you gotta be so mean?!" okay this entire one works, obviously. Although this is the one that made us laugh the hardest during the brainstorming session. Just picturing Katniss with her hand on her hip, shaking her finger at Snow...bahaha.
  • "Sparks Fly": Katniss and Gale's song
    • Evidence: "My mind forgets to remind me / You're a bad idea" (because let's face it, they have chemistry, but they are the worst couple ever. A "bad idea," if you will.)
    • More evidence: "I'm on my guard for the rest of the world / But with you, I know it's no good" TOTALLY KATNISS.
  • "Haunted": Katniss when she realizes Peeta's been hijacked in Mockingjay
    • Evidence: "Whoa, holding my breath / Won't lose you again / Something's made your eyes go cold" (seriously. This just screams of the Capitol.)
    • More evidence: "Come on, come on don't leave me like this / I thought I had you figured out / Something's gone terribly wrong / You're all I wanted"
  • "Ours": Katniss to Prim (or vice versa). Except there will definitely have to be a re-write when she talks about the tattoos.
    • Evidence: "Don't you worry your pretty little mind / People throw rocks at things that shine" (ok this was one of the few reaching ones)
  • "Never Grow Up": Katniss to Prim when they're saying goodbye before the first Games
    • Evidence: "I won't let nobody hurt you / Won't let no one break your heart / No no one will desert you"
  • "Tell Me Why": Katniss and Peeta to Haymitch
    • Evidence: "You know you got a mean streak / Makes me run for cover when you're around"
    • More evidence: "I get so confused and frustrated / Forget what I'm tryin' to say"
  • "Eyes Open": Haymitch coaching Peeta and Katniss
    • Evidence: "Everybody's waiting for you to break down / Everybody's watching to see the fallout / Even when you're sleeping, sleeping / Keep your eyes open" DUH
  • "Last Kiss": Katniss when she realizes Peeta's been kidnapped...either at the end of CF or beginning of Mockingjay
    • Evidence: "All that I know is I don't know how to something you miss / Never thought we'd have a last kiss / Never imagined we'd end like this / Your name, forever the name on my lips"
  • "I'm Only Me When I'm With You": Finnick and Annie
    • we kind of just put this one in so Katniss wouldn't be the only character with songs.
  • "Fifteen": When Katniss and Peeta are training with the other tributes in the first book
    • Evidence: "You take a deep breath and you walk through the doors / It's the morning of your very first day"
    • And then we'll have to change the parts about Abigail to Rue, and the senior boys can be the Careers or something.
  • "The Story of Us": When Peeta's all mad that Katniss has been pretending the whole time when they were getting down in the arena
    • Evidence: "Lately I don't even know what page you're on / Oh, a simple complication, miscommunications lead to fallout / So many things that I wish you knew / So many walls up I can't break through"
    • More: "The battle's in your hands now / But I would lay my armor down / If you'd say you'd rather love than fight"
  • "Safe and Sound": Katniss back in the cave, once she's gotten the medicine for Peeta at the Cornucopia
If you know any rich people who would like to help produce this amazing musical, let us know.

Oh and our dream cast is pretty much the same as the movie, but with Taylor herself starring as Katniss. Which means Josh Hutcherson will need some stilts, because Tay is 5'11"...oh and we're in talks with Zac Efron for Finnick.

*yeah, I took all the required Humanities classes and also Music 101. BECAUSE I AM A COLLEGE GRADUATE.

Also, I am really proud of my handiwork on Taylor's bow. Just so you know.

"If your life had a face, I would punch it"

This video is my response to everything right now, including but not limited to

a.) unpacking all of my stuff
b.) mailing a big fatty check of 1.5 months' rent and deposit to my landlord
c.) washing my face
d.) going grocery shopping
e.) talking to cute boys
f.) getting up and going to work
g.) etc.

In other news, I used a crapload of Mod Podge on a project today. I give myself a B-, which is a disappointment because I was really hoping for an A.

I've decided to bring back the phrase "gag me"

WOW this past week has been completely insane!

First and foremost, I need to throw a shout-out to everyone who has helped me out this week. Seriously, I've had friends help me move my ridiculously huge amount of crap all across Provo, I've had friends let me use and abuse* their Costco privileges, and nearly everyone I know has given me some much-needed moral support. Even just over the internet--love has been felt, y'all!!

And with that, it is most definitely time for a Kid vs. Adult list because I think that Adult Jordyn might actually win this time!

ADULT THINGS
  • Escorted my sister to Ikea, where I bought a dresser and a bookshelf and nothing fun
  • Put together said dresser successfully
  • Put together said bookshelf 97% successfully
  • Rented a gigantic truck from Home Depot
  • Went to Home Depot in the first place, GAG ME
  • Bought a new mattress AND box spring set
  • Trimmed my own bangs
KID THINGS
  • Said "GAG ME" in the Adult List up there
  • Bought a chicken fingers kids meal at Ikea
ADULT VICTORY!! To celebrate, here is a picture of Erin, Austin and me in my most awkward year, 2001.

Part of this isn't my fault; the stupid Yellowstone wind ruined my perfect** bangs. Part of this is because of three little words: training, bra, and denial.

*I didn't actually abuse anything, I think. It just sounded kinda cool
**Matter of opinion

A panic attack and Costa Rica pictures

[From an email I sent myself today from work]

All of a sudden I am expected to be an adult.
  • How the heck does health insurance even work? Do you know how stupid I feel when I don't even know how to ask my boss the questions I have? My only question would be, "What in the world are you talking about"
  • How to buy a bed. I need to buy a bed. How. Internet? Ikea? Costco? I do not know anything. My parents are going to help me. I didn't realize that buying a bed would be so complicated. Earlier, out of stress, I went online to KSL.com and searched "bed". The results it yielded were mediocre.
  • How to go to the doctor when you are no longer under the jurisdiction of the university health center. What doctor? Where is one? Who am I?
I am terrified y'all. One second I'm watching/living/breathing the Olympics and loving my life, the next I am scared sh*tless and don't know to do a dang thing.

[and scene]

Despite a few panic attacks, I feel much better now. I mean, I bought some bins at Target! I am on a roll, maturity-wise!

Also, Costa Rica was AMAZING! It is so, so beautiful, and I had so much fun with my parents. I took over 200 pictures--using Coolpix, by the way!-- so I won't make you suffer through every single one, but here are some of my faves:

We ziplined through this canyon! The word "breathtaking" sounds super cliche, but it really did take the breath out of us. It was SO BEAUTIFUL!

I used this joke already on facebook, but no one responded to it, so I'll say it again: Dad overcame his fear of heights, and I overcame my fear of huge, clunky tennis shoes.

The most beautiful waterfall I have ever seen. (Rincon de la Vieja National Park)

We saw baby monkeys!

Playa Conchal SO PRETTY

Seriously, this was one of the best vacations ever!

A big post full of joy and amazement!

Wow okay so there are about one million things floating around in my brain.

FIRST: last week was one of the most insane weeks I've ever had, but it was also one of the most fun ones of all time. If you are more of a skimmer, I will bold the important key phrases so you will get the gist.

  • My little brother was in town for track camp, so we got to see him a lot, and it was awesome!
  • The Demi Lovato concert was seriously incredible. She is so crazy talented, and I knew this going in, obvs, or else we would not have gone...but dude. BLOWN AWAY.

Plus she is so so inspirational--not just because of all the hell she has gone through, but also because she was once a pretty awkward little girl on Barney, and now she's a total hottie.

Oh, are you wondering who the artist of these beautiful captions was? IT WAS ME
  • Then the very next day, we (meaning Erin, Tabby, Kylie, Rachel, and I) piled into a car and drove to Colorado, where we played and played and played with my favorite family ever (mine) in the mountains.
Colorado, ladies and gentlemen
  • THEN Kylie, Rachel, and I went to see Ingrid Michaelson play at Red Rocks Amphitheater, which was basically life-changing, I'd say. She is KILLER live, not to mention hilarious and adorable.

This list doesn't even include the other crazy things that filled in the blanks, like two drives to the airport, one amazing session of tie-dye, and a viewing of Spiderman, which you know I really really really liked.

I have a couple million other thoughts flying around in my head, though, too, like how I'm going to Costa Rica next week with my mom and dad and CAN'T WAIT...although I fear it may rain the entire time. But I'm not going to think about that.

Also, changes are abounding, since next month I'll be moving for the first time in three whole years...I can't wait for it! But also I have also won the award for Girl Who Deals Worst With Change 23 years running, so I smell a freak out coming on, you know?

Another thing is that I was seriously going to get up early and go jogging before work this morning, which is really not my instinct, but instead of waking up when my alarm went off, I had a dream that I had to go to a meeting with my old Creative Writing professor.

And even while I was dreaming, I was like, "Dang, if I have this meeting, I won't have time to go jogging!" and it felt so weird when I woke up. But then I was like, "Hey, crap!!"

Long story short, I did not go jogging this morning, and I felt like a failure. Even though it was my professor's fault!

Best Summer Movie Yet, Hands Down

Just saw Spiderman. Spidey is already my favorite superhero, and throw Andrew Garfield into the mix...

I can't even talk about it. Andrew Garfield is so hot that I should not be allowed to see that movie ever again.

But who's up for another $5 Tuesday viewing next week?

Update, 13 minutes later:
I'm having to actively remind myself that I don't personally know Andrew Garfield and that he has a girlfriend, her name is Emma, I just saw them be adorable and also steamy for 136 minutes.

Real life boys...I'm sorry, but you need to work just a teensy bit harder.

In a post-graduate world, Fridays are especially sacred

Some of the best songs to listen to while you drive home from work on a Friday are:

  • "Born to Run" by Bruce Springsteen
  • "Footloose" by Kenny Loggins
  • "Working for the Weekend" by Loverboy (obvs)
  • "Livin on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi
  • "Dreams" by the Cranberries
Take it from me; blast these with the windows down, and you'll feel like your life is a movie. (In my case, it's a pretty freaking boring movie, but a movie nonetheless.)

Also, I forgot to blog a happy birthday to Tricia on Thursday! She is 15 now, and despite this, I love her a lot. Plus I'm pretty sure that she's the only member of my immediate family who occasionally reads this blog.

Here's a pic from 1998. She's the cute chunk in the baby backpack or whatever those things are called.

Happy birthday Patrish!
